Best for all-in-one design
Oculus Go (32GB), £199
The first Oculus, the Rift, cost a fortune and needed a top PC to work. The Go is half the price and all hardware is built in. Games and apps are excitingly immersive, so much so you almost forget you are wearing a heavy, sweaty mask.
Best for Samsung phone owners
Samsung Gear VR, £119
The VR experience is as effective as the Go’s and, like its rival, this headset comes with a wireless handheld controller. It’s more affordable . . . as long as you own a recent Galaxy phone to fit into the headset and do the hard work.
