The challenge, in which players compete to be first to spot a car or record the most of a particular type or colour in a given time, tops the list of time-killers for bored kids, in a survey by Vauxhall.
It is followed by Next one to see and How many car brands spotted in one minute.
Even the ancient ritual of hand-waving has survived the popularity of high-tech distractions such as videos and tablets, posting an impressive fourth place in the survey.
But not all is sweetness and Eddie Stobart truck bingo. The survey also uncovered the most off-putting niggles that long car journeys with children can bring. Over half of respondents (52%) loathed siblings fighting in the back of the car, and nearly half (45%) disliked the constant question: “Are we nearly there yet?”
