News: Ford builds on Fiesta ST’s success with flagship ST-3

THE FIESTA ST, the must-have hot hatch of the past 12 months, has acquired a third, range-topping version as Ford seeks to capitalise on the model’s success.

The ST-3 boasts a stack of additional kit including cruise control, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers and keyless entry. Together they raise the car’s price to £19,250; £1,000 more than the ST-2.

Performance is unchanged, however, with all STs powered by a 1.6-litre, 180bhp turbocharged engine, good for 0-62mph in 6.9sec.

Ford has revealed it sold 6,250 STs in the model’s first year on sale – 20% more than it forecast. The biggest seller, accounting for 90% of them, was the £18,250 ST-2.
